Do Christians in America truly want America to be saved from the evil that is currently consuming this wonderful country in which we are blessed to live? Sometimes I wonder, because it seems the Christians who say they want America to do well mostly want to point at the world, and all the moral decay and decadence in the world; pointing out all the evil being done and how those doing the evil need to change or be changed. But that is not what The WORD Of GOD says.

The Christians are the key to changing America, and the world; and the change to improve both starts with the Christians. GOD’s WORD says so.

Here is a well known verse of Scripture that gets passed around a lot by Christian people, yet the actual point appears to be completely ignored by the people passing it around or agreeing with it:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

(2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV)

Let’s break it down. First, to whom is this Scripture directed? And, what are the requirements of this Scripture?

1) “If my people,…”

“If”. If is such a big word at times. This means that the decision is not up to The LORD GOD. The decision is up to GOD’s people. Saving America, and/or any other country in the world, IS NOT up to GOD. Saving America, and/or any other country in the world, IS UP TO GOD’S PEOPLE. GOD’S PEOPLE MUST CHOOSE GOD’S PRESCRIBED COURSE OF ACTION!

GOD’s requirement for any land, in our case America, to be changed starts with GOD’s People. In the Old Testament this was written directly to the Hebrews. However, we are now living “after the Cross and Resurrection”. This not only applies to the Hebrews/Israelites, this applies to all the seed of Abraham. Being born again Christians makes us Christ’s, and being in Christ Jesus we are the seed of Abraham by faith, and heirs according to the promise (see Galatians 3:29)

This promise, and the responsibilites to claim the promise to be applied to the land, belongs to the seed of Abraham. We may not be the physical seed of Abraham, who are also heirs according to the promise, but we are in Christ Jesus, and thus spiritual heirs. This promise can be appropriated by any person or group of people who are born again by grace through faith in the LORD Jesus Christ.

2) “…which are called by my name,…” What was LORD Jesus called? One of the Names He was called was/is “Christ” or “the Christ”. In Antioch people of the world started mocking followers of the Way of Jesus of Nazareth by calling them “Christians” because they went around teaching the Good News of the Kingdom Of GOD, and signs and wonders followed them; just like Jesus Christ. The worldly and the pagans began calling such disciples of Jesus “Christians”, “little Christs” because they went around acting like Jesus and doing the things Jesus did. I wonder, how many of today’s Christians (including myself) would actually be called “Christian” by the same people? After all, how many of the “signs” that are to follow those that believe according to the WORD Of GOD actually follow any but a very few of us anymore?

So, are you born again? Does anyone call you “Christian”? If so, these requirements and the subsequent promise of GOD are for you.

3) “…shall humble themselves,…”

We must humble ourselves. This doesn’t mean we judge the world and the people of the world; we are to humble ourselves, to submit ourselves and our will to The WORD Of GOD, not demand that the world around us do so.

We must wholeheartedly recognize and confess our utter need for the WORD, guidance, and power of the LORD GOD in our lives and in our nation. We are incapable of doing any good of any kind of ourselves. We must rely completely upon the mercy, grace, and anointing of The LORD GOD Almighty and follow the lead of Holy Spirit.

4) “…and pray,…” This is “palal”: to judge, to intercede, to pray, to intreat, to make supplication.

We are to judge the sin in ourselves, to confess our need for our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ; our need for Almighty GOD to move in our lives. To intreat the LORD GOD to bring His Kingdom to bear in our nation (…Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…). And this move of the Kingdom starts in us, His Children, living according to His Will, His Way, His WORD; relying upon Holy Spirit to move through us to draw all men to The LORD GOD by grace through faith in LORD Jesus. We must pray to hear and obey The WORD Of GOD.

5) “…and seek my face,…”

We are to diligently seek to be face to face with the LORD GOD Almighty. Face to face. Nothing in between us that can even tempt us to be distracted from Him.

6) “…and turn from their wicked ways…’

We must turn back from, retreat from, our wicked (bad, evil) ways. These wicked ways include not only our deeds, but our words, our thoughts, and the intent of our heart; anything that The LORD GOD reveals to us is not of Him, and/or not pleasing to Him. No matter how seemingly small and/or insignificant. The more purely we fix our eyes upon Him, face to face, the more purely we will see that which He desires to reveal to us.

We must remember this Scripture:

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

(Hebrews 11:6 KJV)

We absolutely must approach The LORD GOD by faith, because otherwise it is impossible to please Him. We must also remember that faith works by love (Galatians 5:6). Without love, our faith is useless, and anything we say or do is void of all meaning and carries no weight in the spiritual realm; rendering our prayers, words, and actions impotent.

When we come to The LORD GOD, we must truly believe that GOD IS WHO GOD IS (I AM THAT/WHAT/WHO/BECAUSE I AM). We must believe GOD IS WHO He has revealed Himself to be in His WORD. We must fully focus on WHO GOD IS; face to face. We must also be fully persuaded that GOD IS A REWARDER them that diligently seek Him, because GOD IS WHO GOD IS and one of the things GOD IS IS A REWARDER of anyone who diligently seeks HIM. Once we have made our petition that is in line with His Will/WORD, we must be fully persuaded that HE IS rewarding us as we diligently seek Him. Not that we continue to seek what we have petitioned Him for, but that we seek HIM. This brings us directly back to “seek His face”, permitting nothing to interfere, impede, or distract us from being face to face with The LORD GOD Almighty, our Abba Father who passionately LOVES us because HE IS LOVE (1 John 4:8, 16).

What has The LORD GOD committed Himself to do in response?

1) “…then will I hear from heaven,…”

GOD has committed Himself to “hear from heaven”. But remember, this was before The Cross. This was before the vail was rent in two from top to bottom. This was before we were born again. Now GOD resides within each individual born again believer in The LORD Jesus Christ. What we have done is remove the evil that was blocking up our ears from hearing the LORD GOD WHO IS always with us, WHO never leaves us nor forsakes us. We have removed the condemnation from our own hearts so that we may boldly enter before the Throne Of Grace, knowing that Abba Father WHO IS LOVE, is paying close, loving attention to the words we speak.

2) “…and will forgive their sin,…”

Now that we are “after The Cross”, sin has been dealt with in Christ Jesus. When we realize we have sinned, and repent of that sin, we cleanse our conscience so that we can again hear The LORD GOD, and we have slammed shut the door of opportunity (that was opened by our sin) for Satan to wreak further havoc in us and in our lives. This removes “the static” from our hearing The LORD GOD, so that we can now hear His Instructions and receive His Revelation of our part in the advancement of His Kingdom in America; His Kingdom in this earth.

3) “…and will heal their land.”

Once we have humbled ourselves and prayed, began seeking the face of The LORD GOD, and repented of the sin and wickedness (anything that is short of the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus) that the Presence of His Holiness by Holy Spirit makes us aware of, we are now in a position for The LORD GOD to move through us by Holy Spirit to heal this land. We must remember, it is through His Children, the born again believers that the LORD GOD primarily moves. Yes, The LORD GOD will influence others to do things in line with their character that may assist in the healing of our nation, but it is primarily through The Body of Christ Jesus that His Power flows. We must have the level of obedience and humility necessary to do what The LORD GOD speaks in our hearts to do. He will not force us to be obedient, which is why purity of heart from true repentance and the humility to simply obey our Abba Father as a trusting child obeys their loving parent.

These are the real steps that must be taken, by The LORD GOD’s children. We are the ones whom The LORD Jesus sent into this world with the Authority of His Name, immersed in The Power and Anointing of Holy Spirit.
